Diving in Izu peninsula 

Izu is the best choice if you're looking for a dive spot that offers beautiful underwater scenery and wildlife, without having to travel far away from Tokyo. It's a popular spot for divers based in Tokyo and sees lots of visitors on weekends and weekdays throughout the year. Both shore and boat dives are available, as well as transport to a great number of excellent dive sites. We can recommend the best spot for you, based upon your experience level and the ocean conditions.  All the guides here at East Dive are licensed PADI Instructors who have multiple years of exploring these dive spots under their belts and are happy to share their local knowledge with you.

SHOUBUSAWA/SOUTH IZU

Shoubuswa is very popular spot for people who are interested in ship-wreck diving. 
 including soft corals, sea sponges, fishes, crabs and nudibranchs. It is also close to Shimoda Station and is introduced as a Hidden-gem dive site. The wreck is about 23m/59FT. deep and 20m/55FT long, so you can enjoy it at your own pace. There is little movement, so you can dive freely at the point within the time limit. You can see many schools of fish, Thanks to the warm currents moving up the Pacific Ocean, the water can reach 27°C/80.6°F in the summer. Visibility in the autumn and winter is usually greater than 20 meters (65ft).​

Tropical fish arrive on the warm Kuroshio Current. Thousands of species of fish and crustaceans can be seen right before your eyes, but this gallery shows some of them in photos. ​Please use our website's booking form to submit your scheduling request. Later, we will respond with a confirmation of your reservation. Since the event is held every day, there is no schedule posted. Tell us about your ideal timetable, please.
Our dive staff determines the daily dive points based on the state of the ocean and the ability level of our guests.
Dive trip Schedules  
  • 08:00 am Meet at the Shimoda Station exit.
  • Offer to stay the night before in the Shimoda area. Introduce accommodation. ​
  • 08:30 am Arrive Dive site.
  • *The location will be in the Shimoda area.
  • 09:00 am First Dive (Boat Dive).
  • 11:00 am Second Dive (Boat Dive).
  • 12:00 am Lunch time.
  • 13:00 pm Gear's pack up. 
  • 13:30 pm Leave from Dive site​.
  • 14:00 pm Arrive at Shimoda station​​.
  • *We will drop off at your hotel in the Shimoda area,

Our PADI Instructor will guide with you.
​​On your diving trip, a PADI instructor who speaks English will be there (Dives Staff are speaking English, French, and Japanese,) If you're a sola diver, don't worry—we can pair you up with a diving buddy. Please complete the form in order to make a reservation. In order to inquire about the program, feel free to contact us, etc., prior to making a reservation. ​​
Please note: Necessary Items
  • Diver Certification bring it on the day any diving organization (SSI, BSAC, CMAS, NAUI) are also welcome. ​
  • If you book 2days or more we can arrange dive sites in completely different locations each day. 
  • You need to have a good level of experience.  
  • You need to have logged at least over 20 logged dives and hold an Advanced Open Water Diver Certification.
  • Towel, Sandals, Swimwear, inner Layers, 
  • Logbook (if you have one) ​
  • Rent wet/dry suit sizes and equipment are limited. If you are over 195 cm tall, heavier than 110 kilos or have feet larger than 30 cm, please contact us.​
  • Participants under the age of 18 need a signature of a parent or guardian.
  • Please complete the payment within 3 days of making a reservation. If the diving schedule is within a week, the payment deadline is the day after the application date. ​
  • You can pay by credit card online, or bank transfer. (Payments cannot be made on the day of the dive. )
